We’ve spent a lot of time in Gatlinburg, TN exploring & enjoying nature. This time we wanted to go in a different direction. We had heard a great deal about Big South Fork National River & Recreation Park, but had not been there. So, my husband & I decided to take the hour & half trip and check it out.
It was lovely π I definitely want to go back. We only spent a few hours there and hiked only 2 trials. From what we saw, it seems to be a well-kept park with very well maintained pathways.
Big South Fork is a big park covering 125,000 miles of land stretching from northern Tennessee to southern Kentucky according to their website.
Take a small look around with me π
I plan on going back!! π
I love it! You need to check out some trails off of Cades Cove you will love them http://smokymountainstraveltips.blogspot.com/2013/12/cades-cove.html
If you like hiking trails here in tn check out Honey Creek loop, it’s one if the nicest trails I’ve been on its a little strenuous but well worth it. It’s about 6 miles round trip with lots of scenic adventures . Google it and see what you think.
IT sounds great! I will check it out π
Gorgeous! We frequent the gatlinburg area so we might have to venture to big south fork river!
The distance is greater to Big South Fork, but the traffic is nothing comparatively π
Thanks for visiting dentaleggs! Your photos are beautiful. Especially the ‘No Camping in Parking Lot’ photo.
Thanks. I had a chuckle at that sign too π
Absolutely breathtaking! And I’d love to know who camped in the parking lot – thus prompting the sign…
Haha π I’d love to know too Louise!
It’s like those “wrong way” signs on highways: There because someone obviously tried to go “on” via the off ramp… I enjoy collecting photos of funny signs too.
Me too! I dedicated an album on facebook to them π
Haha! My personal favourite to date was one I saw in Hawaii about 12 years ago – along the side of the highway – about how we were “now entering a banana virus quarantine area” (or something like that, I’d have to check the picture). I’m sure there was a serious issue involved, but I couldn’t help picturing all these sick bananas getting herded across some marked line into sick banana camp.
LOL π
